In the Saeima's extraordinary session, we supported the draft law on the development of Latvia's eastern territories in the first reading. Our eastern border region needs not only security, but also a clear development plan and long-term investments. When talking about Latvia's eastern territories, we primarily think of Latgale, but there are also the border areas of Vidzeme that need targeted state support. Therefore, it is important to agree on a clear framework for the Eastern Territories Development Fund, so that there is a mechanism for purposefully strengthening these territories, mitigating the effects of depopulation and promoting their competitiveness. If we clearly show ourselves that the development of the eastern territories is a national priority, we will have a much stronger position also in the European Union's multi-annual budget negotiations, fighting for funding for the development of these regions.

During the raid, 235 persons were checked. Of them, 87 foreigners. One person, handed over to VRS, has no legal status to stay in Latvia. 10 Sudanese nationals were checked - taken to the center in Mucenieki. One person wanted for failure to comply with a court judgment was detained. 1 criminal process for theft from a retail outlet - person detained. 1 criminal process for possession of narcotic substances. 25 administrative violations, of which three for possession of narcotics in small amounts, total marijuana seized - 3g. Two Indian citizens have committed administrative violations for driving without valid licenses. 8 catering establishments were checked - departmental checks for non-use of the state language in the service area.
