The budget pays millions to consultants for a pointless deal started by ZZS, JV and Pro, with a total value of many hundreds of millions of euros; I would like to hear why Kulbergs hasn't stopped this yet and why we continue to waste money? Or does he agree with such a scheme? https://t.co/SQfa7rIhcs

Andris Kulbergs (AS): We live on debt, we realistically borrow to the maximum and even then it runs short. The promises that previous governments have made are without financial coverage. We need to find coverage on how to realize them.

Andris Kulbergs (AS) on 'airBaltic': We must find a strategic aviation investor in time so that we, as a state that is not particularly good at managing the aviation business, do not have to take on all that risk again.

The US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York has approved the start of financial restructuring of Latvia's national airline airBaltic under the Chapter 11 procedure stipulated in US law, as confirmed by Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (AS) after the government's approval. "The next step is to immediately obtain funding to ensure the airline's operations, including employee salaries and fuel," the Prime Minister said.

Following my proposal, it has been decided that starting from 2027, information on procurements carried out by the state and other public institutions must be published regardless of the transaction or contract amount. Transparency helps promote responsible management and reduce the risk of wasteful spending.

Then it's even worse. So - the Prime Minister has nothing else to do and he composes sheet-like texts for social media 😱. The Prime Minister's office obviously is not fulfilling its duties and does not fill the agenda with more state matters. For example, how to reduce budget expenditures by 850 million EUR and reduce state debt. When will AS have an offer on this issue?

@patmalnieksj everything is written by me word for word - the only thing is grammatical and stylistic errors were corrected and instead of country abbreviations, country flags were placed.

Degradation in the media is visible, but the question is whether we should continue to finance this degradation in the same way and to the same extent with taxpayers' money, that is a question for the prime minister and the political environment? https://t.co/1Xc3Kaf60l

This morning at 7:00 I gave an interview to @LRZinas while being in Lapland at the Arctic Summit, an EU leaders' event. It surprises me that instead of the Latvian public learning about the decisions we are making to strengthen security against Russian threats, my 1:1 discussions with German Chancellor Merz about the EU's new 7-year budget, about the common agreement of Baltic leaders to solve the RailBaltica issue, about Iceland's EU referendum or the general EU position in the Arctic in the fight for natural resources and the new northern sea transport corridor... all that journalists are interested in is Uzulnieks being caught drunk, whether ministers use drugs, and why I hold a glass of beer at a basketball game... I believe you can do better 😉

Can't keep up. That's how the PM responds to all calls to liquidate ministries and institutions. KEM and SIF continue to work. But at tomorrow's Cabinet meeting, the PM's party colleague Tavars has submitted a question about establishing a new institution (Latvian National Botanical Garden, 99 positions; the State Chancellery and the Ministry of Finance do not agree) already from October 1 of this year!!! Why such great haste and are there hidden political interests here? The Botanical Garden existed as a separate institution until the end of 2025. A competition for the position of director of LNBD had even been announced. The selection committee recommended two candidates to the then VARAM minister Čudars (JV). One of them was Kulberga's party colleague, Saeima deputy A. Svilāns. Čudars decided to end the competition without results, and LNBD was liquidated. Functions were transferred to the Nature Conservation Agency. A lot of money and resources were spent during the liquidation process. But 9 months later, the next minister Tavars does everything the opposite. Where is the logic? Perhaps the haste is related to the fact that Svilāns' comrade again wants to become the director of LNBD.

One thing is clear here - @AndrisKulbergs is definitely not to blame :)) But the main point here is still about SOME KIND of responsibility - if back then in Latvenergo's shitty 3 million case they could set up a whole parliamentary investigation committee, then it is a justified question - what are @MeistersArmins and @prokuratura_LV doing in the airBaltic case - are these hundreds of millions from the state budget really COMPLETELY OK? SERIOUSLY?? There are like n-th episodes of shareholder deception, cmon...

My statement on airBaltic Today, airBaltic is initiating financial restructuring in a US court under Chapter 11. This time we are not buying a few more months of life support for the airline. We are beginning to solve problems at their core. It must be admitted that negotiations with bondholders were not progressing. Several investors, who had bought the bonds on the exchange at about 70 percent of their nominal value, were more reliant on airBaltic's liquidation and recovery of pledged assets rather than on restructuring the company. Another loan of up to 257 million euros at an annual rate of 25% was offered. That could provide the company with money for the near term, but would not solve either the previously accumulated debt or the problem of aircraft lease obligations. Therefore, I did not accept this offer as a long-term solution. Chapter 11 is a US court-supervised financial restructuring that allows airBaltic to continue flying while restructuring debts and lease agreements and attracting the financing needed for operations. Simply put, it is a protective shield that gives the company time and legal protection against creditor claims, allowing management to implement a full restructuring plan. This does not yet mean that all of airBaltic's problems are solved. But this is one of the best currently possible solutions to ensure the company's viability and give it the chance to stand on its own feet. For the process, airBaltic has received commitments from financiers to provide 350 million euros in new financing at a 12% rate. International financial market participants such as banks Morgan Stanley, Barclays, and private financiers Hayfin Capital Management, Oaktree Capital, and Strategic Value Partners have expressed readiness to finance. This is a significant and positive signal of trust. At the same time, I have instructed the Ministry of Transport to declassify restricted government documents related to airBaltic, so that the public finally has full information about the decisions made within the company, the use of state money, and the consequences of those decisions. The most important news for passengers is that airBaltic continues operations, the planes continue flying, and purchased tickets remain valid. This is not yet the finish and not a victory statement. But a process that addresses airBaltic's problems at their core has finally begun.
