Dear @Ryanair, Ryanair rented a ballroom to announce two aircraft and Riga as this year’s “winner”. It seems their scratch cards have finally made their way from the cabin to the strategy department. But their own announcement makes the point better than we could. Riga has “won” this year’s round. Tallinn and Vilnius have won previous ones – and their reward this winter is a 25% capacity cut. That exposes the paradox at the heart of Ryanair’s proposal: long-term investment cannot be re-auctioned every year. A commitment that has to be won again each season – at an ever lower price – is not much of a commitment. The Baltics need reliable, long-term connectivity, not an annual auction to see who is prepared to offer the cheapest landing. That is a difficult model to call a long-term connectivity strategy. https://t.co/aOZJYQOxlB

@DavidsZalans I have always said so. I just told you again. And also directly, both to the prime minister personally and to AS deputies. To everyone, my position on this matter is completely clear. Just yesterday in Strasbourg I also said it to a Latvian journalist from Liepāja. I don't know where she will publish it.

@poznaks Where can one see that you have publicly said in the past few months specifically regarding Russian grain being transported by rail? Have you called on the government not to transport it? I haven't seen that. Have you discussed it privately with the AS Saeima deputies? If the answer to all of these is negative, then ...

@DavidsZalans Pulling a sentence from a tweet about a completely different topic and giving it a grain of context is truly unprecedented quality of politics. I have objected and will object to the transport of ru cargo as long as it continues. The government chose its own solution. Whether it works or not, we will see in 2 weeks.

@poznaks If you, as a representative of the United List, do not object to the transport of ru cargo to lv, as the government led by the United List currently does and allows, then you can also say nothing. https://t.co/MC9ElGTuIi

Regarding the governance of state-owned companies... it must be fundamentally changed in the next government. All state-owned companies must be placed under the Latvian Development Fund, where there would be professional management and the earned money would be reinvested and earn, rather than be consumed in maintaining the state apparatus. Investments would earn with interest. The shares of this LV Development Fund would be listed on the stock exchange and would obtain the necessary capital for energy projects, regional construction, strengthening the border, infrastructure projects such as roads and railways, etc.

"Tragically low level and unprofessionalism," concluded @AndrisKulbergs, @Apvienotais_ prime ministerial candidate, on TV24 program "Runāsim atklāti" about the governance of state-owned companies. ▶️ Watch the full TV24 program: Part 1 https://t.co/2GAZiVZRo9 Part 2 https://t.co/daQkMqZ3wP Part 3 https://t.co/UGqWWAXGlo

@Oslejs @BTiesiskums @IvarsAuzins @KNL_LTV1 In recent years, everything has turned out completely opposite to what you say. For years now, aB has been "guided" by your musings. We see the results.

@BTiesiskums @IvarsAuzins @AndrisVelps @KNL_LTV1 An airline serving only Latvia is not possible due to too small a scale and thus high costs. The Estonians and Lithuanians already tried it. So saying that 30 is already too many is incorrect. The new plan is the minimum possible volume. 100 is much better, but that requires funding.

If you read the fascist Russian press, you can learn that the Russians are 'softening up' on any @AndrisKulbergs government 'tariffs' and plan to TRANSSHIP 2x MORE BLOODY GRAIN through Latvian and other Baltic countries' ports than they are able to transship through their own Baltic Sea ports!! Sorry, @MGruskevics, but you need to bluff in moderation….

@tv24_lv Bureaucracy can be reduced by doing! The commission I lead this year made changes to several laws, actually reducing bureaucracy, especially in construction. This week the commission heard Endziņš. And it turns out that in half a year @AndrisKulbergs has not met with him even once! More work and fewer speeches!

“I want to weed out bureaucracy, but I cannot do it alone. In my daily Cabinet of Ministers meetings my eyelids twitch and I want to cry, these meetings kill me, there is so much pollution with bureaucracy,” the Prime Minister @AndrisKulbergs @Apvienotais_, a candidate for the 15th Saeima deputy seat, said on TV24 program “Let’s speak openly!”

Regional transport contracts do not adequately take into account the increase in fuel and labor costs, so the Ministry of Transport has been instructed to prepare a long-term solution by mid-October, evaluating all route costs, Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (AS) said in an interview on "Rīta Panorāma".

The metastasis of Unity's cancer has less than three weeks left to finish blackening. https://t.co/Y6xTuxzijO

Day No. 80 in the prime minister's chair — 🇷🇺 grain transit and airBaltic Chapter 11 approval. Today two important things. 🌾 1. 🇷🇺 grain transit solution - The government - AS + NA + JV + ZZS - unanimously decided on a solution to restrict 🇷🇺 grain transit, providing for a +300% fee for the use of railway infrastructure. - This is also a response to 🇷🇺's unilateral doubling of the Russian railway tariff since June 1. - 🇱🇻 grain gets 100% priority for our farmers. - Latvian port capacity is freely available for 🇱🇻 grain, and it is already being actively exported through our ports. - The bill is being urgently submitted to the Saeima this Thursday. After its adoption and entry into force, LatRailNet, which sets railway infrastructure charges, will make the necessary changes to tariffs. That will take up to about 2 weeks. - The Ministry of Agriculture and @uldisaugulis have done the work, concluding a contract with 🇬🇧 DEFA for grain testing and laboratory use in cooperation with 🇺🇦. - The 🇺🇦 side has confirmed that Ukrainian specialists will arrive in Latvia as early as next week to help identify possibly stolen 🇺🇦 grain. - We have reached a common position with the 🇪🇪 and 🇱🇹 prime ministers on introducing uniform restrictions on 🇷🇺 grain. We are advancing the grain issue at the fastest possible pace. ✈️ 2. airBaltic Chapter 11 procedure - airBaltic's Chapter 11 procedure in a 🇺🇸 court has been accepted and has already received the judge's approval. This means airBaltic will be able to: 💶 access financing immediately; 🔧 start the restructuring process; 📑 review obligations to creditors. Work continues.

Reading those law amendments submitted by SM, there is no mention of the 300% infrastructure fee surcharge mentioned by @AndrisKulbergs. That is also understandable, because the relevant EU Regulation does not allow anything like that at all. So someone is fiddling with something, and possibly there will be no 300% at all. https://t.co/3wWtj6z6jm
