@didzisdejus@janisdombrava The obstacle is in the Saeima committees chaired by members of the United List. Amendments to the Immigration Law and the University Law, which would place strict restrictions on fake students and impose liability and penalties on universities that invite third-country students for violations, are being kept in drawers.
‼️ Again, migrant-based business is being lobbied behind the scenes, and again the adoption of anti-immigration decisions is being stalled both in the Cabinet of Ministers and in the Saeima! 🤯 This is already symptomatic! https://t.co/JPpiNMQylC

@didzisdejus@janisdombrava There you have it! The United List is delaying decision-making in the Saeima. For a long time already. And when asked to review it in a committee meeting so it could be supported at least in the first reading, Česlavs Batņa reportedly replied that no one will force him to do it.

Today the Cabinet of Ministers took note of the informative report on the so-called Wolt/Bolt couriers, after @janisdombrava's request to include the document for consideration in the Cabinet. Again at the last moment. Again not following the agreement on the procedure for submitting documents.
But let procedure be.
They reviewed and adopted it. Here it is, everyone can read it themselves - https://t.co/2jumByZ0sa
"The plan's goal is to improve the legal framework for the entry and residence of third-country nationals in the Republic of Latvia.
Three action directions were set for implementing the goal – studies, employment and other matters, within which a total of 23 measures were planned."
The plan's points had to be fulfilled by 31 March. Two points have not been fulfilled. Both concern @IZM_gov_lv. Both are about foreign students who, most likely, are those Bolt/Wolt students we see in Riga every day.
Who was the Minister of Education during this time since December 2025? Correct, @dacemelbarde from @Jauna_Vienotiba. She was in office from 6 March 2025 to 28 May 2026.
She did not do it.
But since 28 May 2026, the Minister of Education and Science is @IIndriksone from @VL_TBLNNK. From the same party alliance as @janisdombrava. Has the plan been fulfilled in +4 months? No, it has not.
So much for our fight against immigration with students – Boltists/Woltists.
Thank you for your attention.
The obstacle.
Day No. 81 in the prime minister's chair (TUESDAY, 22 Sept.) — sanctions, “RailBaltica” and work with the state wallet.
The morning began with office coordination, documents and preparation for the Cabinet of Ministers meeting. Next — an economic action discussion, a call of Baltic prime ministers, a government meeting and a press conference.
🇪🇺 SANCTIONS — 🇱🇻 HELD OUT TO THE LAST
Latvia was the only EU country out of 27 to object until the very last against the removal of Alisher Usmanov and Mikhail Fridman from the sanctions list.
In the end, the choice was not between good and bad. It was between bad and much more terrible — changing the status of two persons or the collapse of the entire sanctions regime.
Latvia constructively abstained. As a result, sanctions against almost 3,000 supporters of Russia's war were extended for 36 months, not as before — every six months, meaning no one will be able to touch them for 3 years. Until now, they had to be re-confirmed every 6 months.
At the same time, we immediately imposed Latvian national sanctions on Usmanov and Fridman. In Latvia, their funds and economic resources remain frozen. Thanks to @Arlietas, the diplomatic corps and Minister @Braze_Baiba for the work, as well as the President @edgarsrinkevics for coordinating 🇱🇻 position from NY.
🇫🇷🛡️ STRONGER SECURITY FOR LATVIA
Through intensive negotiations with French President Emmanuel Macron, we reached an agreement to start talks on Latvia joining France's nuclear deterrence initiative.
France has also pledged to strengthen its military presence in Latvia — especially in air defence.
Security 🇱🇻 is concrete allied presence, capabilities and deterrence.
🚆 “RAILBALTICA” — BALTIC PRIME MINISTERS AGREE ON 2034
With the Lithuanian and Estonian prime ministers, we agreed on a common Baltic position and signed a 3x countries' declaration for the project's implementation.
2030 is not realistic, because RB would have to be implemented without EU funding because the new fund money is only available in 2029, and we have to finance security from the national budget. Therefore, all 3 Baltic countries agree on a realistic first-stage target — 2034. In the next EU financing period, the Baltic states will jointly ask the EU for predictable funding for the project's implementation, while on their side there is a commitment to review unnecessarily high technical requirements to reduce costs by several billion and speed up construction timelines.
CUTTING THE COSTS OF THE STATE APPARATUS
I signed an order to freeze the base salaries of officials also in 2027. It also applies to the prime minister, ministers and Saeima deputies.
The Ministry of Finance has been tasked with preparing proposals to limit state spending — reviewing bonuses, service spending, long-standing vacancies and other expenses. Money will no longer be squandered in DECEMBER.
It is also required to freeze all DECEMBER procurement.
We in the state have a habit of unnecessarily spending the state budget in December with unnecessary expenses — it must be stopped so that the money stays in 2027.
If we demand that the state save, we must start with ourselves.
🛂 CLEARER MIGRATION POLICY
The government approved a 71-measure plan for stricter control of third-country nationals' entry, employment and studies.
Some proposals still require amendments to laws, but the direction is clear — Latvia needs a migration policy that actually works.
It was not a short day. But the prime minister's chair is not meant for comfort.
The absurdity of 3 October - United List voters happily think they will vote for the boldly talkative, charming Kulbergs, but in the end they will vote for Šķēle, Waterfront and migration. And with high probability - as a result of the coincidence of numbers - for an AS coalition with Šlesers.

“We do not have a migration policy. We have not said what we want and what we do not, who is desirable and who is undesirable. If we finally developed such a migration policy, it would be completely clear what universities may do, what businesses may do and what businesses may not do,” Andris Kulbergs (AS) said on the programme “Party in Focus”. #IzvēliesLatvijasNākotni#Vēlēšanas2026

@Apvienotais_ candidate for prime minister @AndrisKulbergs in his video statements stubbornly talks only about illegal migration. That is political hypocrisy and manipulation - living in a private house neighborhood, he won't have to deal with the "safety culture" brought by migrants from third countries.
Denmark's and the Netherlands' long-term studies clearly prove: legal immigration from third countries has no positive contribution to the economy! It creates pure losses to the state treasury (in Denmark on average -€14,200 per person per year), drowns our national language, culture, and creates enormous security risks.
The only benefit is the cheap labor lobby of certain entrepreneurs.
Against this background, illegal migration is a completely different and much smaller problem!
And what was this third-country migrant doing here in Latvia? Why was he in Latvia? @AndrisKulbergs migrants "disturb us!" They endanger our children! https://t.co/xDYwKh2Oqk
Last Friday, September 18, State Police officials detained a 1998-born Uzbek citizen at one of Riga's shopping centers, who approached minor girls and offered money for engaging in sexual activities. In the criminal process, two minor girls were recognized as victims, and the suspect was remanded in custody. https://t.co/BzclJNakhK
