No. Latvian regulatory framework does not provide for this. The Constitutional Court has asked the Saeima to provide an explanation by November 2, and the Legal Bureau of the Saeima is preparing a legally correct opinion. One thing is clear. Latvian laws and regulations DO NOT ALLOW a child to have two mothers or two fathers, because in Latvia same-sex partners are NOT allowed to adopt children. Moreover, Article 146 of the Civil Law clearly states: 'The mother of a child is considered to be the woman who gave birth to the child.' ❓ Does APVIENOTAIS SARAKSTS support the introduction of same-sex marriage? Our position has not changed. We support the definition of marriage enshrined in the Constitution as a union between a man and a woman.
