@AndrisKulbergs@RSiltums Among all those flattering words, could you at least honestly say that you again want to reinstate golden visas as it once was, or will you explain your sponsors' wishes differently?
Day No. 50 in the prime minister's chair — @RSiltums tariff, 🇧🇾 border, TUA, declaration in private property, 🇪🇺 fund redistribution. Today the Cabinet of Ministers reviewed several important issues — from heating costs in Riga and security on the 🇧🇾 border to attracting investment, protecting owners' rights and using 🇪🇺 funds. 🔥 RIGA HEAT TARIFF — GOAL: CHEAPEST HEATING AMONG BALTIC CAPITALS. Finally the day has come when the Cabinet reviewed the proposals that the investigative commission on “Riga Heat”, led by me, had developed in the Saeima. As prime minister, I tasked the climate and energy minister @JanisVitenbergs to evaluate these proposals in detail and prepare a concrete action plan. Many thanks to the minister and his team, especially state secretary @LigaKurevska, for the scrupulously developed plan: short-term — already for this heating season; medium-term — until 2027; long-term — after 2028. The goal is clear — to achieve the lowest heating tariff in Riga among the Baltic capitals. Main proposals: publish all essential heat supply data; evaluate transferring @Latvenergo's water-heating boilers to the management of “Riga Heat”; task SPRK to review the cogeneration tariff methodology of “Latvenergo”; set priority for using residual heat; reduce administrative costs and end waste of funds; change the shareholder structure of “Riga Heat” so that the company finally has a clear and responsible owner; evaluate integrating “Riga BioEnergy” into “Riga Heat”; evaluate the CHP operating model after 2028; promote modernization and long-term development. The Cabinet decided that the economy minister @ViktorsValainis, in cooperation with the Ministry of Climate and Energy, must develop a national proposal for the best management model for “Riga Heat”. This decision cannot be postponed. The company's development and the tariff reduction needed by Riga residents must not be stalled. 💶 TUA SYSTEM — END THE OLD SYSTEM AND DEVELOP A NEW, MODERN INVESTMENT ATTRACTION MODEL. Interior minister @janisdombrava reported on the temporary residence permit (TUA) system. The current system is outdated, exhausted, and not oriented toward attracting the kind of investment truly needed for Latvia's economic development. The report is to be supplemented with an analysis of other EU countries' experience, so that a decision can be made on creating a new and modern system. Goal: attract investors from allied countries; attract wealthy and successful entrepreneurs who create companies, jobs and tax revenue in Latvia; attract more than 100 million euros per year in investment and budget fund programs. Latvia does not need the selling of residence permits. Latvia needs smart, secure and state-beneficial investment instruments. 🏠 DECLARING RESIDENCE IN PRIVATE PROPERTY — ONLY WITH THE OWNER'S KNOWLEDGE. Justice minister @EdvardsSmiltens came with a very good proposal to regulate the declaration system in private properties. Currently, private individuals or legal entities in some cases can declare residence without the owner's knowledge. That is unacceptable. The proposed solution envisages that the owner automatically receives a request; declaration would be registered only after the owner's consent; the owner would have the option to reject the request. The task is to prepare a specific solution and implementation timeline in the near future. Private property also means the owner's right to know and decide who declares residence there. 🛡️ 🇧🇾 BORDER — There is a plan to address illegal migration. The Cabinet reviewed the interior minister's report on the illegal migration flow at the 🇧🇾 border, current statistics and possible solutions. The minister also informed about technical problems at border points and their prevention. We evaluated all proposals, such as: limiting the flow of illegal migrants; improving border control; strengthening technical surveillance; targeting the organizers of the hybrid attack. No decision was made today on fully closing the 🇧🇾 border, but this option remains as one of the courses of action if the migration flow creates a significant threat. The border is under control. In August, targeted and pre-planned measures are planned in cooperation between the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Defense and the National Armed Forces to influence and disrupt the activities of the organizers of this migration hybrid attack. 🇪🇺 EU FUNDS — MONEY MUST BE DIRECTED TO STIMULATING THE ECONOMY. I am preparing for the EU fund committee meeting scheduled for Thursday, which has not been convened for a very long time. Agenda: redistribution of existing EU funds and the wishes submitted by ministries; directing funding to priority projects; discussion on the principles and conditions of the new EU fund period — 2029–2034. European fund financing must not be merely a wish list of ministries.
Interior Minister Jānis Dombrava (NA) has sent a letter to Spain regarding the border crisis in Ceuta, where tens of thousands of people broke in from Morocco. In Madrid, this letter was received sensitively. Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (AS) has admonished the interior minister that in the future, when communicating with foreign countries, the content must be coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 🖥️ https://t.co/RfuXaQN2zF
An assessment of remote work practice in the state administration is necessary, said Finance Minister Māris Kučinskis (AS) in an interview on “Rīta Panorāma”. The minister noted that remote work has brought many pluses, but there are also many questions, and it must be assessed whether remote work brings gains, not losses. 🖥️ https://t.co/4DugzTCxU3
@Chapis@AndrisKulbergs In itself, the fact that Estonians come to help is not a bad thing. Our people have also gone to help both Lithuania and Greece. But overall I agree. Illegal migrants will not come through a border crossing point. This is yet another desire to make life difficult for someone.
@witch_chief@MrMRDB@AndrisKulbergs NA is represented in the European Parliament by one of the most influential politicians – Roberts Zīle. So we need to make all of Europe do it. Then there is no question – not giving money to Lithuania and burdening Latvian border residents. Not to mention cargo.
@Chapis@AndrisKulbergs The Latvian state must not cooperate with terrorists and enemies. Simply must not. We don't have to look at the Lithuanians. The border region also needs to understand that a vassal state and its master are not and will not be Latvia's friend. As long as “business as usual” continues, people will not reach such awareness. https://t.co/gegUopTUmT
@MrMRDB@AndrisKulbergs This isn't really a story about whether it's needed or not, the story is about something else. People will always find a way.. this time through Lithuania. The effect of all this is absolutely zero, even negative, if we look fiscally.. so watch the video.
@Chapis@AndrisKulbergs Do you think we need to cooperate and be friends with a vassal state that has been waging hybrid warfare against Latvia for years? Break the friendship? Or is the cockroach there not involved and that's just how it happened? Bankruptcy for the backbone as well?
@Janis1983 Strengthen the border, don't steal money, not close the border crossing point.. so two completely different things.. check out this tweet from 2016.. 10 years have passed, and still no result.. https://t.co/WOTd8USG12
@Chapis@AndrisKulbergs How, in your opinion, should we respond to BLR for directing the migrant flow towards our border? I am in favor of cooperation with BLR, but this neighbor has been coming to put a log in our yard for 5 years. Maybe once we should hit with a broom? How to respond?

There was just a protest that was supported by Palestinian citizens. They're going to take away NGO money😅 Yes, it will be gone through whom to give and not to give. The councils should already slowly group up, reserve, and call Palestinians for a similar event, because this will be reduced pretty soon. No question! https://t.co/zRxOOa5O4M
Amusing how @Progresivie calls out @ZZS_ for placing their people in positions without a competition, but meanwhile they themselves just on 16 FEB in the railway tariff office LatRailNet with 20❗️ employees (where 2x are board members) quietly without a competition (at least I can't find one) extend the positions of 3x council members for 5 years. Why on earth does a small state company with 20 employees need 3x generously paid council members at all? For example 🇪🇪 such a function is under one roof - Competition Board with 59 employees and no council, performing both the Competition Council, and SPRK (regulator), and LatRailNet functions, which in Latvia together employ 243 employees and 3x sets of councils. This will be the first = No1. Liquidate the councils of any subsidiary capital company (totally pointless creation). No2. audit all redundant councils and inflated capital companies, which we @Apvienotais_ will do in government. https://t.co/Efbv0LcKLe
@AndrisKulbergs Andri. This needs to be stopped. Those salaries, all of that... it's absurd. It needs to be stopped. And with such a funding model... It's a fraud. 😡🤬
Show the list of all salary recipients in the studio! https://t.co/iyIz3itLyb
If the government @AndrisKulbergs supports this NA (Ministry of Interior) initiative, then they seem to have seriously ‘tied you up’. But on the other hand, that's good, because then NA can hope for 1% in Latgale. What does the green border have to do with illegal immigrants? About 45k Latvian citizens travel back and forth each year. They will still go through Lithuania. What will we achieve? We'll load ours onto Lithuania, because unlike us they have enough resources 😀. Moreover, the 🇱🇹 border with 🇧🇾 is 500 km longer than ours. And they will still thank us, skim the cash (fuel, eateries, vignettes, little taxes etc.). Not to mention cargo (https://t.co/gFTUkUoLwZ). I understand it's pre-election time, but there should be a bit of common sense… 😀😀 And all this a week after Estonian border guards rushed to help Latvian colleagues. We're really living the high life… possibly a prelude to the neighbors soon starting to build Rail Baltica for us too :)
