“Then there would be at least 30 Kulbergses and another 30 people much smarter than Kulbergs” – Alvis Hermanis shares his post-election reflections.

Conclusions. The only thing I regret is that the election method proposed by MMN would make it possible to get a parliament with at least 30 Kulbergs and another 30 people far smarter than Kulberg, because the ban on combining offices would also be lifted. We represented those people who saw the cause of the problem rather than fighting the consequences. Thank them! Over the past six months, since MMN appeared, we have already made a considerable contribution to the common cause: we have radically changed Latvia's political agenda — changing the rules in state administration, or the general overhaul, became the main discourse in party rhetoric, and MMN's ideas became the main content of Kulberg's famous evening video selfies. Because, as he himself admitted on Domburs' show, AS had no program at all. We are not jealous, quite the opposite — we are glad that our ideas are being used as an instruction for action, and together with the rest of society we hope that Kulberg will succeed in implementing MMN's political program in practice as well. We would have done it better ourselves, but this option isn't bad either. Let's hope. It is also important that we have removed the JV/Pro monopoly from the race. Their era is over, and the state has at least been given hope of recovery. The immigration matters, however, make me worried. Because Kulberg supports bringing in low-skilled labor, and that will inevitably become an existential threat in the long term. And, finally, there is now a possibility that Rinkevičs definitely needs to be sent back to live with his mom. Because during a war, exposing the entire nation to security risks and putting Sprūds/Siliņa in charge just to get to live in the Castle was unforgivable. We got lucky. But it's not over yet. Thanks again to the MMN camp. At least we tried.

What can make the “United List” take “New Unity” into the government, throwing them a lifeline with participation in the coalition? I see two arguments: - a promise in May to E. Rinkēvičs before he nominated Kulbergs. - blackmail from Latvian security services concerning certain AS politicians.

Internal government quarrels and delays with changes were one of the reasons why part of the population stayed at home – Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs (AS) assesses the low voter turnout. He emphasizes that there will be no room for huge compromises in the new government and promises strict control over coalition partners so that no 'gifts' are prepared in the last weeks before the government change. #Vēlēšanas2026 🖥️ https://t.co/wB2V6DOKaJ

@IneseVaidere @AndrisKulbergs why is JV needed there?

Andris Kulbergs currently has a unique opportunity to form a national and Latvian coalition. Its composition is obvious – AS, NA and JV. There is no need to delay. I hope Kulbergs' second government can be formed as quickly as the first – experience shows that it can be done if one wants @AndrisKulbergs

Four years in the Saeima opposition would practically guarantee the destruction of the party "New Unity", but would make overcoming the 5 percent barrier more difficult for "The Progressives" in the 16th Saeima elections. AS voters clearly showed that they want the end of the left-wing dictatorship. AS politicians have a duty to hear this.

What dancing on tables and pulling strings would happen in the newsrooms of LTV, LR, Delfi and TVNET if the Progressives, rather than the United List, had won 41 seats in the Saeima. But that has not happened. They will have to adapt.

“41 people from one party will enter the Saeima, many of whom will be [..] fellow travellers, namely – they will end up there basically because of Kulbergs,” Jāzeps Baško (MMN) said in an LTV discussion about the results of the 15th Saeima elections. #Vēlēšanas2026 https://t.co/jCyxY0wn9y

“The two big priorities remain unchanged – security and the economy. On security, in four months Melnis together with Prime Minister Kulbergs has done truly fantastic work, [..] while on the economic side, for now we have rather been engaged in firefighting and crisis management,” Edvards Smiltēns (AS) said in LTV’s discussion on the results of the 15th Saeima elections. #Vēlēšanas2026
