It is unclear why CIA Director John Ratcliffe came to Moscow, but numerous theories about the purpose of the visit have already emerged. Putin’s schedule was changed because of Ratcliffe’s visit. 'The president had a major event scheduled for this Tuesday - hundreds of people were preparing for it. But a couple of days ago, it was postponed,' the Kremlin said. What is notable is that, amid the prolonged wait for visits to Kyiv and Moscow by President Trump’s usual envoys on efforts to end the war in Ukraine, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, it was Ratcliffe who arrived in Moscow. Along with Marco Rubio, Ratcliffe is often described as one of the leading 'hawks' in the U.S. administration and an advocate of tougher pressure on the Kremlin. Given this, some view Ratcliffe’s visit as a warning that the U.S. could harden its position if Russia continues to refuse to end the war in Ukraine. Another theory is that the visit is connected to Russia’s escalating hybrid war against Europe. U.S. media recently reported that American intelligence agencies were warning of possible Russian attempts to attack European NATO countries in order to 'test the Alliance’s unity.' We will likely learn in the near future how the talks ended and what issues were raised - though probably only partially.

The company manager who works on the Waterfront project takes a short interview with Šlesers. But looking at that person's TikTok account, we see that we have before us a fan of “🇷🇺Wagner” and Russian fascism. @AinarsSlesers @LatvijaPirmaja will there be any comment? @Valsts_drosiba https://t.co/eEsjS40cI3

The video maker is obviously not a local. In Dagda there are no traffic lights anywhere, also in Zilupe or Viļaka or Kārsava... and in many other small towns. And the fact that after the storm there was no electricity for a while is not the end of the world.

Yesterday on TikTok I came across a video where a vatnik drives through some Dagda and, of course, comments on the situation. The situation, of course, pleases other vatniks. The situation is certainly also noticed by some foreign intelligence bureau in some Lubyanka in some Moscow. Total blackout. That means that the situation with civil defense is in the rear. Corruption and the cancer of Unity in all its glory. Or rather, in pitch black darkness. Because the so-called state, which the bureaucrats of Unity&Co progressive parasites-degenerates call themselves, cannot provide anything anymore, even to a minimum. Jēkabpils, Līvāni, Preiļi, Dagda and so on - but, well, yes: it is far from Riga and Latvia ends around Ogre. Oh, no - Ogre also sat in blackout. But the talk is not so much about blackout - the story is about the inability of municipalities and the state to provide even the minimum. Unlike Ukraine, which Latvians mockingly called and call a very corrupt country, but in Ukraine somehow that civil defense nevertheless quite noticeably began to work pragmatically and coordinated, in real war conditions. But we here don't even have a war, we don't even need a war to perfectly visualize that Latvia has been eaten by corruption and power self-satisfaction much more than Ukraine.

The unity of the Baltic states is our strength – both in protecting democracy and the rule of law, and in ensuring accountability for violations of international law. 🤝 Today in Tallinn, together with the justice ministers of Estonia and Lithuania, we met with the Speaker of the Estonian Parliament, Lauri Husaru, to discuss issues that are currently important for all Baltic states. 🗳️ Democratic processes must be protected. Elections must be safe, fair, and trustworthy. With the increasing risks of foreign interference, disinformation, and malicious use of new technologies, the Baltic states must be able to timely prevent threats and strengthen public trust in democracy. ⚖️ Russia's aggression against Ukraine must have consequences. International crimes cannot remain unpunished. Latvia and Estonia must continue to work together to ensure that Russia feels real consequences for its aggression and that accountability is ensured for the crimes committed.

🇱🇻🇪🇪🇱🇹 Baltic security also begins with strong democracy and the rule of law. Today in Tallinn, together with the Estonian and Lithuanian justice ministers, we discussed how to strengthen our countries' resilience against increasingly complex threats. 🗳️ Democracy must also be protected in elections — against foreign interference, disinformation, and malicious use of artificial intelligence. In Latvia we have already introduced mechanisms to mitigate such risks, including the requirement to indicate the use of AI in pre-election campaigning and accountability for the use of misleading deepfakes. ⚖️ At the same time, we must be prepared for Russia's attempts to use law as an instrument of political pressure. Here, united and coordinated action by the Baltic states is especially important. 📉 However, a strong state is not a state with as many rules as possible. Regulation must be understandable, proportionate, and not create unnecessary burden on people and businesses. 🤝 Regular Baltic cooperation is essential to respond to common threats in a unified, timely, and practical way.

Last week's storm highlighted serious weaknesses in crisis prevention in Latvia. Ministries, as well as involved institutions and the Crisis Management Center, must submit proposals to the government by mid-September on how to improve the overall system's work in crisis situations.

This storm was a painful dress rehearsal for Latvia's and every person's readiness to overcome crisis situations. Thank you to firefighters, medics, police officers, electricity network crews, municipal workers, volunteers and everyone who is still working to help people and restore critical services. The storm showed an unpleasant truth: if electricity disappears over a wide area, many other critical everyday services also start to stop. Many of us were affected not only by the lack of electricity. Mobile communications and internet were disrupted, fuel stations, shops, ATMs, payment terminals and traffic lights did not work. Traffic and train movement were disrupted. In places, water supply and sewerage operations were endangered. Even operational services in some places had difficulty refueling their vehicles. The storm also revealed a problem with cash circulation. Without electricity and internet, card payments may not be possible, and ATMs do not work. Under these circumstances, cash becomes a critically important reserve means of payment. There must be a clear action plan by the state, banks and merchants on how to ensure the availability and circulation of cash during a crisis. People reported that in some shops, bread and drinking water ran out within three to four hours. We need to assess whether shops and logistics networks are ready for a rapid increase in demand and can ensure the supply of essential goods also when electricity, communications and electronic payments do not work. Equally important is the operation of pharmacies and the availability of medicines. What happens if a pharmacy has no electricity, internet or access to e-prescriptions? Where can a person get life-saving medicines? How is the public informed about working pharmacies? There must also be a clear crisis algorithm here, not improvisation after the event. Unfortunately, today I did not find a unified, comprehensible and regularly updated overview of the situation. People had to search for information themselves on the websites and social media accounts of various institutions, companies and municipalities. But during a crisis, a person must be able to get answers to very specific questions in one place: ❓ Where is there no electricity? ❓ Where are mobile communications and internet not working? ❓ Which roads are closed and where is public transport disrupted? ❓ Where is water supply and sewerage endangered? ❓ Which shops, fuel stations and pharmacies are operating? ❓ What exactly is being done? ❓ In what order are damages expected to be repaired and services restored? Such information must be unified, verified and regularly updated. At the same time, there should be a backup information solution for situations when people have no electricity, internet or mobile communications. Once the acute crisis phase has been overcome, I expect a comprehensive assessment from the Crisis Management Center on how the state overcame this crisis, what worked, what did not and what urgently needs to be improved. The assessment must conclude with a concrete action plan, specifying those responsible, deadlines and necessary investments. But responsibility is not only on the state. Also every Latvian household must critically assess whether we seriously took the previously distributed warnings and whether we can cope for at least 72 hours without electricity, internet, shop, ATM and immediate operational services help. Do we have drinking water, food, necessary medicines, a flashlight, batteries, a charged external battery, a radio and cash at home? Does the family have a comprehensible action plan? Do we know how we will help children, seniors, neighbours and people with special needs? This time it was a storm about which we received advance warnings. The next crisis may start without such warning. I am currently in Ukraine, where they have to deal with an identical situation every day. Yesterday I saw with my own eyes how crisis coordination systems are integrated into a military command center, where you can see every service online - VUGD, police, medicine, gas, municipal services, rescuers... all. I will bring this system to Latvia.

Stealing is an integral part of the the Russian mentality. It starts with small things until it grows into refined crimes and manipulations. Scams, schemes, parasitism - and all done with great impudence. Beata 'Somiņa' is in her true environment - with New Unity. Corresponding values and needs. A foot soldier who will carry out all orders. Be sure...where JV's useful idiots sit, there are envelope wages, pumping money through NGOs and stealing.

@RenarsKadzulis To call someone a criminal or allege corruption, you need ironclad evidence (it must be gathered and the case submitted to court). That is what the prosecutor's office does. You yourself recently shouted that you are being falsely accused, didn't you?

Is corruption in the CSDD case now being called a conflict of interest? Isn't working on both sides simultaneously – customer and contractor – planned corruption? Didn't the contractor know? What other CSDD schemes will come to light? Is KNAB covering all this up? https://t.co/0gkbxqxjmM

Another migrant tunnel found in Latvia near the Belarus border. Border guards yesterday in Krāslava detected 28 people who entered Latvia through this tunnel, and in the Kaplava border guard unit area, 20m from the border, came across an underground passage camouflaged under moss. https://t.co/yfxqQkJ9MU https://t.co/s4WTLaTDlJ

@IvoButkevics Did you yourself understand what you wrote? 🤔😊 I got lost.

For the state to ask us for more data because the state [protects?] our data... It's been a long time since I heard such a tempting offer.

@JurgisLiepnieks @AndrejsUrbans You're not clueless... you understand very well what I'm saying. Access through identification and everything is ok. No anonymity and risk of AI tool scrapers and mass data pumping. An individual can be identified and mass anomalies prevented.

@AndrisKulbergs @AndrejsUrbans Yes? What is that then? You yourself explained that North Koreans need to be restricted, otherwise they will unrestrictedly study Latvian officials' declarations.

No need to make a fuss... the only thing needed is to prevent mass anonymous pumping... if the user can be identified, everything is ok.

And who here complained themselves that they can't sign? And what does a 'national security threat' have to do with being able to access officials with any bum's data? And then a small amendment in the draft law and access will disappear altogether, and you won't be able to see liabilities, property, or fairy tales. Not everyone is a sucker.

@AndrisKulbergs @JurgisLiepnieks I understand that, Andri. But ask Elvim how technically easy it was to extract the existing VID officials' database. And you're right - everything here is made of shit, manure, and poop... 😉

@letardolv @CSDD_LV @Apvienotais_ Sorry, but a submission has been made to the prosecutor's office and law enforcement will evaluate.

@AndrisKulbergs @CSDD_LV @Apvienotais_ Again, nothing will happen to anyone. It's fantastic that people are just being moved to other positions. As I recall, over the past 15 years, only that railway guy was convicted for a bribe from Russia. Various Bondars, it seems, only nominally received guilty status and did not compensate anything.

Oh no... everything is available only with authorization, e-signature or Smart-ID or otherwise.

This logic is devastating: By combining CSDD's stolen data with publicly available declarations and other databases, it is possible to profile: 👮 police officers; 🪖 soldiers; 🛂 border guards; 🕵️ security service employees; 🏛️ officials and their families. Of course, all of this is possible! And it has ALL ALREADY BEEN DONE! What does restricting access have to do with it?? Then suddenly 99% of all officials will change and everything will be discreet again??

@AndrejsDeeCee @CSDD_LV @Apvienotais_ There is a very interesting story, there will be separate info about TET, but everything points to very interesting oddities on the CSDD side, where TET is not involved... there will be info when there is confirming data.

@AndrisKulbergs @CSDD_LV @Apvienotais_ 'CSDD had a contract with TET for server and connection cybersecurity' then TET SHOULD have detected data leakage or suspicious network activity. Of course, the question is which products and solutions are connected, but network flow monitoring should have reported suspicious data volume.

@desdae1 @CSDD_LV @Apvienotais_ There will be a separate story about TET, but there everything points to interesting internal processes at CSDD, which is very interesting...

@AndrisKulbergs @CSDD_LV @Apvienotais_ ZZdats/Dativa + LVM + CSDD + undisclosed data leaks already form a very interesting data set. It is also unclear why TET monitoring did not detect abnormal data flow to some IP addresses in time.
