@Braze_Baiba@VL_TBLNNK Thank you, this is important from the standpoint of cooperation with our strategic partner. Foreign affairs has a special role in building this cooperation. We will resolve matters with the Latvian film industry separately.
On support for the 🇱🇻 film 🎥 industry, we agreed with @AndrisKulbergs and @VL_TBLNNK at the Cooperation meeting on Monday, and the entire government coalition was united — it is necessary and will be ensured. But there is no need to fall out with our strategic security partner, the USA.

@SatoriLV From a professional perspective, it is a pity about the drop in quality of @SatoriLV's content. Dramatically tendentious and a narrow view of the upcoming processes. Positively - it is good that there are opposing viewpoints.
Quoting @pucej - if everything is called a priority, then none is one in reality.
"Entrepreneurs-state leaders" means trouble for science, culture, environmental protection, public organizations, and other fields that are unable to demonstrate their immediate benefit in the hierarchy of values that this ideology envisages.

HOW CAN ONE NOT PROMISE! - the classic once said
🗳️ PARTIES — WHO PROMISES MORE?
Given this stark budget reality and the legacy left in state finances, where even borrowing up to the maximum 🇪🇺EU-allowed budget deficit limit is not enough, the pre-election promises of political parties stand out especially.
They are no longer measurable in hundreds of millions — they are already measurable in billions €, moreover without financial coverage and without a real economic growth proposal.
I have analysed the programmes of several political parties and summarised each party's promises in money terms for the period from 2027 to 2030.
🏆 The record holders of political "Promisers" for the next four years:
🥇 No.1 — Suverēnā Vara / Jaunlatvieši (Stepaņenko wants to give benefits, cut VAT, raise salaries): +3.61 billion €
🥈 No.2 — @LatvijaPirmaja Latvia First (@SlesersAinars – we reduce VAT on everything): +2.87 billion €
🥉 No.3 — @ZZS_ (@ViktorsValainis — promising to abolish VAT): +2.47 billion €
4️⃣ @Progresivie (@suvajevs — because money grows on trees): +2.1 billion €
5️⃣ @Jauna_Vienotiba (@aseradens — we continue borrowing endlessly): +1.56 billion €
6️⃣ @VL_TBLNNK National Alliance — (wants to fund language, education, culture and fight illegal migration, without thinking about the ECONOMY): +1.55 billion €
7️⃣ @Apvienotais_ — we will not promise what we cannot deliver, main focus on education that will pay off in the future, with justification of where we will take the funding: +763 million €
When you go to vote - ask the question - HOW DO THESE BIG PROMISERS REALLY INTEND TO IMPLEMENT THEIR PROMISES, IF ALREADY TODAY THE STATE FINANCES HAVE A €420M FINANCIAL HOLE (already next year), WHICH MUST BE FILLED? And think about who left such a financial pit legacy

@liana_langa@Braze_Baiba Liāna, I think I do not need to convince you or anyone else about my principles in this matter. I am a member of Kulbergs’ association (I stress that) and a friend, too. Our attitude and scale of values are equivalent on this issue. What someone interprets or paraphrases cannot be controlled, after all.
Bjorka writes that the prime minister “does not divide by language...” Excuse me, what are those anti-constitutional messages from Bjorka in the company of the honourable prime minister? A desire to legitimise the consequences of occupation and Russification – de facto bilingualism? I assume that this question is important for a loyal voter; I urge you to state your position publicly! After all – the State Language Month has begun! #AtkrieviskoLatviju

Day No. 85 in the prime minister's chair (Monday) – 💰 Parties — who promises more? 📊 Budget scenarios; 🇳🇵 News from Nepal
The day was spent working with @MarisKucinskis, @Finmin and @Valstskase officials and managers, analysing state finances, economic forecasts, saving opportunities and various scenarios.
📊 Figures, data and facts:
➖ The financial policy and spending management of previous governments have long been irresponsible — the budget deficit has been kept at the maximum possible limit, regularly borrowing money also for everyday spending. Such an approach had become the norm, and the whole Latvian society and sectors have become accustomed to this model.
➖ In 2028, the largest budget deficit is forecast — €2.7 billion, or 5.4%!
➖ Just servicing the state debt, i.e. interest payments, will already cost €681 million next year. This money will have to be found somewhere — so somewhere less will have to be spent.
Debt servicing costs have risen from €155 million in 2021 to €681 million in 2027, because the price of money has become significantly higher.
➖ By 2030, the budget plans adopted by New Unity's finance ministers and prime minister provide for a deficit of around €2 billion every year. That is not safe and sustainable management of state finances.
➖ The Siliņa government (JV) left behind decisions adopted in the Cabinet of Ministers or laws worth €421 million in 2027, and this amount rises to €663 million in 2030 — WITHOUT ANY FINANCIAL COVERAGE.
Of which:
🏥 €264 million — for health care
👩🏫 €56 million — for teachers' salaries
➖ Latvia's current and forecast economic growth is stagnatingly low — around +2% a year, but its contribution to the budget is largely eaten up by forecast annual inflation of +3.5%.
➖ The largest increase in budget expenditure is for defence and security — +32%, amounting to around €2 billion a year.
➖ The state has long been programmed to live at the maximum permissible budget deficit, without reviewing existing expenditure and on top of that adding another +1.5% of borrowing for security, which the 🇪🇺EU allows to be additionally included in the deficit for three years.
Conclusion?
👉We do not review existing budget expenditure.
👉We continue to live on debt.
👉And we borrow even more, because we are allowed to do so.
That is not right.
➖ Also noteworthy is the manoeuvre of E. Siliņa's (JV) government, borrowing 1% from the 2nd pension level. That too will have to be paid back into the budget — an impact of around €280 million in 2029.
➖ Also in 2029, the term expires for the additional tax imposed on banks, i.e. the windfall tax. As a result, the state budget will also lose these additional revenues.
➖ One of the biggest problems in budget planning is politically adopted decisions to "tie" spending in specific sectors to a certain percentage — for example, 6% of GDP for health care — or to automatically index wages.
If a budget expenditure is tied to a specific %, the whole expenditure part automatically increases as GDP or another variable grows — without any new government or Saeima decision.
✅ There is also good news.
The Ministry of Finance and @kucinskis have been working since July, reviewing the ministries' base expenditure, and have already found €214 million in savings in the 2027 budget base.
That is a step in the right direction, but there is still a lot of work to do. We must continue to optimise expenditure so that there is money to cover already planned and adopted commitments for which no revenues have been identified.
📕 One thing is clear to me — the next government will have to adopt an iron-fisted "2027–2030 FISCAL STABILITY AND REFORM PLAN", more precisely — a special law, similar to during Covid.
The way out of this financial situation is not a simple spending-cutting plan. That will not be enough this time.
📈 The economy and budget revenues must be grown rapidly, with the main emphasis on the opportunities of export-capable companies.
I believe this is possible, because such slow economic growth can and should be increased by at least +1.5 percentage points a year. That would give the budget an additional around €300 million in revenue.
💶 But we need to save already today — already for 2027.
That is why the ministers agreed:
⛔ To stop the typical DECEMBER waste — meaninglessly spending the balances of ministries and institutions at the end of the year.
⛔ From 1 October, to suspend the conclusion of any new contracts and commitments. A similar moratorium as in the ICT area — if something is truly necessary, the need and usefulness must be proven.
🧊 To freeze salaries at the 2025 level.
⛔ To stop paying DECEMBER bonuses and extra payments — an exception may be allowed only for special achievements and with a manager's justification.
⛔ To stop unnecessary events, seminars, conferences, consultations and studies, as well as office and equipment renewal, IT and other investments that are not critically necessary.
🔍 Ministers must take political responsibility and, together with state secretaries and heads of institutions, review and justify any budget expenditure above €50,000.

🇳🇵 NEPAL
In the Nepalese context — all those belonging to Latvia are still in the status of missing persons.
According to the Civil Law, one must wait until April 2027 to change this status and relatives can start arranging the necessary documents.
Until then — hope dies last.
The Latvian government is ready to help in every possible way, if such a need arises.

@Vinotava@AndrejsUrbans Independent producers and content creators who do not submit to the dogmas of the so-called 'Ministry of Truth' are only welcome.
@CerinsAivis@AndrejsUrbans If Zebra were in the status of a parody or humor program, it probably would not be paid attention to. Other programs are not paid attention to either, but for quite some time Zebra's questionable content has attracted attention. That is why it is viewed from the financial, ideological, 'godfather' and other angles.
What’s even left of these @KustibaPar people—now they’re on the PROgresīvo lists.
For those who appreciate what a beautiful place Uzvaras parks is now... If these cretins had even a couple more votes, there would still be the okupeklis, and on 9 May orcs would be fooling around. https://t.co/s976ENDWWR

This girl is an excellent example that language is essentially the cornerstone of integration. No one in Latvia is or will be denied the right to speak their native language in personal life, as some pseudo-politicians smear. I respect this girl and others who express such a stance. Thank you! https://t.co/NPCPdrbAGl
🇷🇺 Russian-origin girl Alyona: we are all united under the Latvian language! Rosļikov, LPV, progressives, stop dividing us into two languages. Only under one language is love between us possible! Do you agree that it's time to restrict extremists who want to divide the country into two languages? This is not Russia!
I think the indignant ones haven't even been to the Riga Motor Museum. It's not about engines at all. Its exhibition is also a kind of occupation museum. It covers the interwar Latvia's flourishing, the occupation era, and communist leaders. Yes, through cars, but it's Latvia's story. Go see it.

@pret_patvaribu@inesevoika That is exactly what Bodānovs personally thanked me for—that at last he could see something else. He had no idea that we have such history, such a museum, such a story, which also intertwines with Ukraine and exhibits with stories from there.
Very sorry that @inesevoika didn't notice and it doesn't occur to her that this person has enough occupation topics in his own country. In my opinion, @AndrisKulbergs chose the right museum to invite UA guests to, so that he could at least rest his mind and for a moment disconnect from UA occupation and war themes. https://t.co/pafla9vCIo

@inesevoika And he did the right thing. One might think Ukrainians don't know what occupation is. Ukrainians have also experienced the Holodomor, with 3–4 million starved to death…
I didn't want to write about Kulbergs again, but my heart bleeds reading this. Kulbergs replaces the Occupation Museum with ... the Motor Museum, because he "wanted to show the high Ukrainian guest something special and memorable." https://t.co/jpqoRDmrU0

Return the Russian language to schools, preserve monuments and not fund 'military conflicts' — promises the increasingly popular party 'Sovereign Power' in Latvia. Its leader Yulia Stepanenko is applying for the post of prime minister.
However, as The Insider found out, the candidate for deputy has close ties with her father Sergei Fedotov in Russia. He gives his daughter large sums of money and real estate, while supporting the Russian army and maintaining acquaintances with former arms baron Viktor Bout.
The Insider's film crew went to Latvia and tried to figure out who Russian-speakers vote for, whether they really consider themselves disadvantaged, and what influence of the Kremlin remains in the country.

@liana_langa I agree, this needs to be addressed... but first I would suggest turning to the minister responsible for this field => Kozlovskis SatMin. If that doesn't work, then come to me, otherwise I'd have to make Kulbergs clones judging by the daily number of requests for problem-solving.
Dear Mr. @AndrisKulbergs, a big request to solve the road sign issue! For many thousands, the direction "MOSCOW" brings chills, without exaggeration! #DeRussifyLatvia
I can't seem to find any Latvian writing on this topic.

The Livonian heritage is kept alive by people who care for it. Their work deserves state recognition!
✍🏼 Today I signed a cooperation memorandum for the establishment of the Uļi Kīnkamag award. Together with the State Language Centre, the University of Latvia and its Livonian Institute, we will honour people who have made a lasting contribution to strengthening the Livonian language, culture, identity and rights.
The award is named after Uļi Kīnkamag, a defender of Livonian rights. More than a hundred years ago, he stood up for the Livonians at a time when he was imprisoned for his views. Today it is our duty to support those who continue his work.
🏆 The award is planned to be presented every year on the Livonian Heritage Day; the first presentation is planned for 2027, which also marks the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The Livonians are the indigenous people of Latvia and one of the founding nations of our state. Their language and culture must live on in future generations!

As we discussed with employers today. We have a bunch of laws and regulations that require allocating funding to various sectors as a certain % of GDP. And there, when adding up, about one billion euros is missing. For a long time. That is on top of the already existing deficit (borrowed money) of 2 billion per year. It will never be fulfilled, even theoretically impossible. Such regulations should be thrown in the trash. There is a list.
Parties that do not make such a budget correction are leading Latvia to destruction. At least a 30% cut in the bureaucratic service, as well as reduced state intervention in business. Also culture and sports. The state does not owe athletes. @guntarsv give 'chainsaws' to ministers to sharpen. Also @AndrisKulbergshttps://t.co/r17V5J9i8B

@EMEL_LV@Broks I understand everything, but, excuse me, the Cabinet has no right to "bounce" anyone, especially when it comes to public media, whose oversight is independent through SEPL and under the supervision of a Saeima committee. Neither I nor the Cabinet has any right to interfere.
@AndrisKulbergs@Broks What further "solution group"? That already sounds too much like Vienotība. @AndrisKulbergs, are you doers or empty-talkers, a Vienotība analogue? When there's a screw-up, all those responsible, with Brauns at the head, fly from their posts onto flat ground. Then one can "study" what needs improving.

@maijaroze_@ltvzinas@LRZinas There is such a thing that responsibility for LSM lies with the Saeima commission, chaired by @ineselibina, which addresses the SEPL matter. The government doesn't really have a say in public media (as the law stipulates, not the old entrenched practice).
@ltvzinas@LRZinas@AndrisKulbergs How much longer will we allow the screaming incompetents on the LSM board to rummage through our strategic enterprises? They not only break laws, but had not even developed a crisis communication plan. And now they shift the blame onto a mid-level manager who is only an executor.
⚡️ Sports and culture cannot be used to whitewash war crimes. Latvia’s Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs is urging Europe to block Russia’s return to the Olympics and international championships, warning that normalization erodes global support for Ukraine.
