@io7246 Where did I speak approvingly about his successors?
From@io7246@karlis_serzants Did you really not understand that those whom Saakashvili fired recovered and, after the victory over Saakashvili, showed themselves?

Looks like tomorrow's elections will have serious competitors — mushroom picking, coping, and garden work…
@io7246 I don't see any contradiction with the students in what I said; there are only nuances that one really shouldn't make such a fuss about…
From@io7246@karlis_serzants Well, of course. After Saakashvili's overthrow. You yourself understand how 'convincing' you are?

@io7246 I was in Georgia with a delegation of the Saeima Internal Affairs and Defence Committee less than a year after Saakashvili's overthrow, and I assume that people of that level, whom we met, knew what they were talking about. They did raise salaries, but only after cleaning up the ranks. And I saw the mentioned apartments 'in real life' as well.
From@io7246@karlis_serzants Interesting, who knows better what happened there: Georgian master's students who just finished their bachelor's at Tbilisi University, or you after 20 years here, in Latvia?

@viuksmp Thank you, I appreciate it.
From@viuksmpMany (a whole 3 people) ask me - who to vote for. I want to believe and hope that @AndrisKulbergs will succeed in the next act. Our 4 votes will then go to the Apvienotais Saraksts.

From@ZarinsI@katrinailjinska @andris_brauns @AndrisKulbergs as a person who is somewhat knowledgeable about tariffs and energy issues 😎 I want to point out - the prime minister can influence heating tariffs only in an illegal way 😎☝️ whereas the systemic changes that @AndrisKulbergs talked about objectively take time, and they are already happening - for example changes in the auctions

@aivars_ve Exactly.
From@aivars_ve@AndrisKulbergs The state gives nothing without first having taken. Every "we will give" is also "we will take", and you can only take from those who have — the hardworking, the skilled, the successful. It is strange that the promise to slow down those who create value seems attractive to many.

@io7246 No, Saakashvili started by actually firing all the road police officers, and the rest understood that it could happen to them too. That did not stop the new interior minister from setting up a luxurious apartment with a gym and a jacuzzi for himself on the top floor of the ministry building.
From@io7246Salaries for delusional bureaucrats must be halved and the money given back to the police. My Georgian students told me how Saakashvili stopped corruption on the roads in Georgia! Georgia! Saaka did it by increasing police salaries 3x! https://t.co/U7v4nSYiKG

I am particularly concerned that school-age children are being involved in the illegal e-cigarette trade. At first it may be selling banned e-cigarette liquids to peers. But a young person can come under the influence of criminal groups and become involved in the distribution of other banned substances too. 🛡️ It seems important to look at this problem more broadly. Behind each such case is a child whose safety and future we must not neglect. We must be able to spot risks in time, protect children, and take action against those who exploit them for profit. 📌 Today, at the Crime Prevention Council, we agreed that the responsible ministries must prepare concrete solutions within two months. It is important to me that they also have a clear place for preventive work. 📌 We also discussed the management of seized property. It is important to me that, while criminal proceedings continue, the property is properly managed and its value preserved. At the Ministry of Justice, we have already prepared amendments to the law providing that managers will be appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers. In particular, a solution must be found for the management of capital shares, shares and financial instruments of companies, because it requires special legal and financial knowledge.
From@AndrisKulbergsHOW CAN ONE NOT PROMISE! - the classic once said 🗳️ PARTIES — WHO PROMISES MORE? Given this stark budget reality and the legacy left in state finances, where even borrowing up to the maximum 🇪🇺EU-allowed budget deficit limit is not enough, the pre-election promises of political parties stand out especially. They are no longer measurable in hundreds of millions — they are already measurable in billions €, moreover without financial coverage and without a real economic growth proposal. I have analysed the programmes of several political parties and summarised each party's promises in money terms for the period from 2027 to 2030. 🏆 The record holders of political "Promisers" for the next four years: 🥇 No.1 — Suverēnā Vara / Jaunlatvieši (Stepaņenko wants to give benefits, cut VAT, raise salaries): +3.61 billion € 🥈 No.2 — @LatvijaPirmaja Latvia First (@SlesersAinars – we reduce VAT on everything): +2.87 billion € 🥉 No.3 — @ZZS_ (@ViktorsValainis — promising to abolish VAT): +2.47 billion € 4️⃣ @Progresivie (@suvajevs — because money grows on trees): +2.1 billion € 5️⃣ @Jauna_Vienotiba (@aseradens — we continue borrowing endlessly): +1.56 billion € 6️⃣ @VL_TBLNNK National Alliance — (wants to fund language, education, culture and fight illegal migration, without thinking about the ECONOMY): +1.55 billion € 7️⃣ @Apvienotais_ — we will not promise what we cannot deliver, main focus on education that will pay off in the future, with justification of where we will take the funding: +763 million € When you go to vote - ask the question - HOW DO THESE BIG PROMISERS REALLY INTEND TO IMPLEMENT THEIR PROMISES, IF ALREADY TODAY THE STATE FINANCES HAVE A €420M FINANCIAL HOLE (already next year), WHICH MUST BE FILLED? And think about who left such a financial pit legacy

3️⃣ of 3️⃣ priority tasks in the Ministry of Justice completed ✅ In four months, a compensation procedure for victims of military incidents has been introduced, judicial administration reform has been adopted, and cooperation with Ukraine has been strengthened. In the Saeima, we are also advancing a solution for the future status of Ukrainian civilians in Latvia. These four months have required difficult decisions and firm determination to act. We started government work with many long-standing issues, but with the team's perseverance we have achieved concrete results. I have met with industry associations and professional organizations to understand the problems in depth and hear from people who face them daily. Their experience helps shape solutions that work in practice. My duty is to ensure that a person can rely on the state when they need help or must defend their rights. That is how I evaluate every decision we advance.
The numbers don't show that. The data shows that we have a small middle class, not to mention the rich. That's why progressive income tax makes no sense either. We calculated that at the ministry. Those are the consequences of communist thinking. To bite everyone in time so they don't escape from the poverty characteristic of communism. However, the Progressives try as much as they can. Until there are 10 square meters per nose in communal housing, they won't leave us alone.
From@BergmanisDainis@guntarsv @KBBergis Our problem is not the poor, the problem is the rich, the well-off, who cannot and cannot get enough...

Today I won't campaign at all. Just go and vote! The choice, of course, is everyone's own. 🇱🇻 https://t.co/BvwRYU9UXL
Of course, that is the main disease. Reducing functions enshrined in laws and Cabinet regulations is what needs to be reviewed immediately at the Cabinet and Saeima level, amending 100–200 items. That requires a clear mandate and will be done as a priority in the next government. It is the only way to truly reduce expenditure.
From@AndrejsDeeCee@AndrisKulbergs @ainarsbr11 Maybe look at how the tasks have changed, how many tasks for state institutions have you eliminated? If politicians only give institutions new tasks but do not review existing ones, then of course the number of employees will grow. Simplify, then add lightness

@ubinators @Elina_Treija @ProBono_Latvia @CVK_zinas @JaunsLV Concordia was the best university in the Baltics, with an additional US college diploma, because it was accredited in the US. I graduated with two diplomas. The comment you are making applies to a later decline period after owner Susi misappropriated the university's funds.
From@ubinators@Elina_Treija @ProBono_Latvia @AndrisKulbergs @CVK_zinas @JaunsLV Concordia is a very shady university in Tallinn that long lacked accreditation. It has been liquidated.

⏱️ In 1 minute: the main accomplishments in the office of Minister of Justice In four months we have achieved concrete results in all three priorities set by @Tieslietas: assistance to victims of military incidents, a stronger and more independent judiciary, support for Ukraine. At the same time, we have reduced bureaucracy and strengthened election security. Behind each of this work is a person who needs help, a timely court decision, or certainty about their future. That is exactly how policy results should be measured. My responsibility is to ensure that the state is able to protect, help, and provide justice. With such determination I will continue the work I have started! 🇱🇻
From@AndrisKulbergsSince 2020, the state apparatus has grown by +10,500 employees, despite a falling number of employed people and residents. As a result of the municipal reform, where the plan was to save and reduce resources = the number of employees has grown by +2,500. Public services 🇱🇻 are 26% of GDP vs 23% in OECD countries. Public-sector employment is 24% (the highest figure) vs 18% in the OECD. State intervention in the economy has grown by 10 percentage points, to a record-high 46%. In the next 4 years, all of these indicators must be reversed — that is our ironclad plan, if we are given such an opportunity.
