To lie - deliberately say, write something untrue (usually to deceive someone). Not nice, Mr. Prime Minister! Not nice. You can certainly do better. https://t.co/HuzWec1rKjhttps://t.co/ghEPHZSDDQ
I do not deny the importance of such a question, I fully respect such a desire, because the public needs to know. I just feel strange that in the program no questions are asked at all about the priorities of the whole society: No.1 HEALTH, No.2 COST OF LIVING, No.3 ECONOMY, No.4 SECURITY, No.5 EDUCATION, and above all about the budget, deficit, and aligning revenues with expenditures. The first and only question was asked about the Istanbul Convention. Thank you for inviting me as the first, and good luck with the next prime minister candidates.
AN OPEN EXAMPLE OF CYNICISM AND SHAMELESSNESS IS THE K2 VENTUM WIND PARK PROJECT! The requirement is still in force not to build more than one small house, summer cottage or sauna on at least 3 ha of land. How, hon. @AndrisKulbergs, do wind turbine towers with 2.5-3.5 ton heavy concrete foundations fit into this requirement? https://t.co/4O5XAF12Fc
@nauris404@Sat_Min No, the 3t measure for N1 vehicles was thought up by Linkaitis. The application of vignettes to regional roads and raising once by 48% and now again by 27% in one year was thought up by PRO.
@AndrisKulbergs, while in opposition, rightly and with enviable persistence fought against this absurdity — vignettes for vehicles up to 3.5 t. Unfortunately, after coming to power, he has developed amnesia, although this could really be a task that could be accomplished in the short term of office. https://t.co/yxJ9gurFYV
@AndrisKulbergs Collaboration with Šlesers is a good question about the future, don't you think? :). Journalists are not obliged to give a stage to promises. You can tell them yourself, for example, I don't know, next to a combine harvester. More important is to understand how the period between elections is evaluated, because those are real deeds. Or misdeeds.
Day No. 55 in the Prime Minister's seat. A dense day with real work in combating illegal immigration, controlling ministers' work, and evaluating the AirBaltic Strategic Plan. 🐺OPERATION 'VILKATIS' - In the morning, at a press conference we introduced the media to a new operation for the security of Latvia's eastern border. After five years of fighting illegal migrants, we are turning against the causes, not the consequences - using human resources and equipment more effectively. The Cabinet of Ministers today decided to establish a special working group, coordinating actions with Lithuania, Estonia, Poland and other countries in the region. If specific measures take place in a particular area, residents will be informed. Thanks for cooperation to the Interior and Defense ministers. We prove once again that only by working as a strong team can we achieve a result. Why the name 'VILKATIS'? Because it's Latvian and with strength. Strange interview @letanewslv - the questioning of PM candidates 'WHAT WAS THAT AT ALL?' - I want to ask what that really was??? It's good that politicians are made to report, but somehow there was totally a lack of even one question about the future, about what I plan to do... I still don't understand what they wanted to tell the viewer. https://t.co/kKbJUSOE97 📋 MINISTERS TOP3 WORKS PROGRESS - At the action discussion we reviewed the implementation of priority works. 7 priority measures completed, 26 activity results - from cooperation with Ukraine in the defense sector to reducing medicine prices and a decision on hospital network reorganization. In September, 9 more are planned to be completed. We have left a lot to the last moment, BUT positively, the ministers approach it with responsibility. The most important task for the ministers is to complete ALL works before the elections. I told the ministers - I am available if support is needed. There is little time. We must focus on priorities. That's why there is no more time for populism and topics that are not Cabinet-level issues. If the approach doesn't change - in the future I will include only Declaration issues in Cabinet meetings, because this government's term of office is limited. ✈️ AIRBALTIC - In the closed part of the government meeting, we heard the Transport Ministry's report on AirBaltic. A good plan for me means five specific things: private partners provide new financing, the state maintains significant participation, Riga remains the main base, no new state financing is needed, and a strategic investor is attracted. If these five conditions are met - that is a plan the market also believes in, not just one that looks good on paper. Is that how it is now? In any case, the company must be put back on 'solid feet'. The current problems are the result of ill-considered decisions made in previous years. After that followed many different questions that we discussed in both the open and closed parts of the meeting. I will share some of them. 🙋 NOT ALLOW VOLUNTEER WORK AT BUSINESSES? - We discussed such a proposal. In my opinion, absurd!!!! Young people want practice, are ready to work without remuneration - that's exactly how they gain experience. With such a regulation we exclude the possibility to do so, for example, helping to organize concerts, festivals or sports events, etc. Currently there is no generally regulated form of how a young person can gain experience in a company without an employment contract. But should volunteer work be banned altogether because of that? All that needs to be done to remove shadow economy risks is for SRS to develop a solution. 📜 PUBLIC BENEFIT ORGANIZATION LAW - This made me smile. One organization demands paid membership in a commission, the establishment of which is determined by the Saeima. The purpose of the law - to reduce the bureaucratic burden, simplifying the approval of commissions. FULLY SUPPORT. But SRS already has its own control mechanism. It is clear that SRS can decide independently. Also without a commission. 💻DIGITAL GOVERNANCE - In the government, together with Edgars Tavars and VARAM we continued improving Digital Services. We agreed in the Cabinet of Ministers on the European digital identity 'wallet' (EDIM) - a voluntary tool that will not fully replace identity documents, but will include e-address functionality. 🏗️We approved VARAM's initiative in procurement, the possibility to use ready-made, market-available solutions. This will allow trying out the rarely used 'design dialogue' procurement form. ⚠️'SILENE' AND 'VIENTUĻI' equipping feasibility - We heard Transport Minister Rihards Kozlovskis. The project is good, but I am concerned about the ICT costs that add up. The task - SM together with FM, IeM and VARAM to evaluate the costs.

Nothing new.
Yesterday, in a closed meeting, the government reviewed the Rail Baltica project, but afterwards the public heard neither new decisions nor a clear plan for further action.
Once again, what we already knew was reiterated: the project costs must be significantly reduced and Latvia must set clear public funding ceilings. The first phase of the project in Latvia is currently estimated at around six billion euros, but there is still no clarity on funding, timelines, and specific next steps.
New possibilities mentioned included revising the planned train speed and using existing railway corridors. At the same time, it is claimed that the location of the main track will not be changed. The government should explain how these plans can be combined and what real savings they would bring.
Other savings solutions, such as lower embankments, less noise barriers, and other technical simplifications, were evaluated and decided during the previous government.
Nothing new was said about the Riga connection either. Started works continue so that by 2029 existing Vivi trains could run from Riga Airport station to Riga Central Station, Salaspils, and further on other routes.
We all agree with the goal of building a connection with Europe that Latvia can afford and that people can use. However, the current government is so far repeating what is already known, even though it now has a comprehensive project evaluation that the previous government did not yet have.
We expect from the government not another evaluation, but concrete decisions on what we will build, how much it will cost, how we will change contracts, from what sources we will finance it, and within what deadlines we will accomplish it.
Adding to what has been said earlier about today's expected closed thematic committee meeting of the government, where the Rail Baltica project will be discussed.
Many have gained the impression that @AndrisKulbergs and the government talk a lot, but the necessary decisions are not being made. One would nevertheless hope that today's discussions will be followed by concrete decisions:
1. On the next steps for the A&M assessment. It is essential to understand whether all three proposed scenarios have clearly identified legal risks and full cost calculations have been made.
2. When considering @AndrisKulbergs' proposal to change the route alignment and direct it through Riga, the public must be shown the calculated significant cost increase, as well as the risks of losing future European Union funding.
The current government considers that the Cabinet of Ministers' decision of December 2024 on the progress of the Rail Baltica main line construction is not binding on it. It is also unclear on what legal basis @AndrisKulbergs could deviate from the European Commission's Implementing Decision, which clearly defines the purpose and procedure for the use of EU funding.
3. It is positive that the meeting will also assess the progress of the main line's section D construction and the savings achieved so far.
Today, the government needs not only reports and discussions but also clear, legally substantiated, and financially responsible decisions.
One could believe it, if they weren't lying that the Progressives tore it out of context on Tuesday. AS had never answered whether it would go into a coalition with LPV, and Kulbergs was still messaging LETA on Monday: 'What the voter will decide, we'll see on October 3, and then we'll repeat this conversation.' But Šlesers was 'evaluated positively'. https://t.co/s1noNncMxV
Doubling the state family benefit and improving housing affordability in the regions are conditions that will help families lean toward having children, believes Artūrs Butāns (NA).
We want everything, but all of that will need money, says Edgars Tavars (AS), emphasizing that without an economic breakthrough none of it will be possible.
We want everything, but all of that will need money, says Edgars Tavars (AS), emphasizing that without an economic breakthrough none of it will be possible.
“Let's let the little people who work go out,” emphasizes Ainārs Šlesers (LPV), calling for all individual merchants or small businesses to set a 10% income tax without bureaucracy and involvement of VID.
If Edgars Rinkēvičs were ready to run for a second term, Edgars Tavars (AS) would invite colleagues to make such a decision. Andris Šuvajevs (PRO), however, noted that 'Progressives' should always consider the possibility of putting forward their own presidential candidate.
“We propose to redistribute the defense budget in favor of internal security,” says Jūlija Stepaņenko (SV/AJ), answering a question about what to change in defense and security concepts.
Received an order to attack those who mistreat immigrants, received an order to attack NA and AS. Spriņģes and Re:Baltica have never investigated Vienotība and the Progressives, all their misdeeds with airBaltic, railBaltic, Briškens's piles in the Daugava, Sprūds's interesting activities at the Ministry of Defence, Evika Siliņa's and Kariņš's flights, etc., etc. Is that really investigative journalism? Is that really journalism? Or are engaged “journalists” through interesting funding sources?
The explosives were in the possession of the NBS from the time of testing at the end of 2025. Meanwhile, specially adapted warheads were delivered in the spring of 2026. As proof: during the Drone Summit demonstrations in Sēlija on 26 May, an NBS soldier shot down an aerial target with an interceptor drone on the first attempt, using the warhead supplied from Poland.
@AndrisSpruds I very much doubt that the NBS would have given Kulbergs inaccurate info. I suspect the situation is even worse than the public is being told. If someone spread disinformation (half-truths, which is even worse), it could be you, not Kulbergs!
Prime Minister Kulbergs is obviously deliberately spreading disinformation again.
❗️Air defense equipment was purchased and no rounds were forgotten.
This concerns specific equipment – interceptor drones from the Latvian company Origin Robotics, which we tested and started purchasing already at the end of 2025. To fully integrate them into air defense, explosives need to be added.
Such a task was given to the NBS to reach a solution together with VALIC and the commercial entity. And a solution was also reached. In parallel with the use of the army's available resources, an agreement was also concluded on specific supplies from an international supplier.
I also clearly indicated the task to the NBS – equipped equipment had to start being deployed on the border already in April.
