📌 Today the co-chairs of the UNITED LIST Edvards Smiltēns and Edgars Tavars submitted candidate lists for the upcoming 15th Saeima elections this autumn. Latvia has never lacked good ideas. But ideas alone do not change anything - they must be implemented. The government led by Andris Kulberis has started its work, and already in the first month significant steps have been taken to address long-postponed problems. We believe that Latvia can develop faster, become safer and provide people with a better life. Latvia - we have a solution! #UNITEDLIST #ThereIsSolution

Day No.24 in the prime minister's chair. Homework must also be done by the prime minister. You cannot sort out a country if everything at home isn't in technical order. 🙂 Today: ➖️ An early morning interview on @TV3zinas's 900 sekundes. After that @lsmlv ➖️ Classified documents day – reports from state services have piled up over the month. I can say that about half of them actually contain nothing that social network users wouldn't already know. We still classify too much information in the country and unreasonably hide it from the public. ➖️ Met with the UAE ambassador to Latvia 🇦🇪🇱🇻. The conversation quickly became open and constructive, because I myself have a personal connection with the United Arab Emirates – I worked there in 2000 and know the country well. We agreed to push cooperation in investment, defense and economic areas much faster, taking concrete steps to strengthen the partnership between the two countries. ➖️ Met with @elnormous to hear his vision of the resilience of Latvia's state ICT systems against cyberattacks – what needs to be done, what needs to be changed and what needs to be supplemented to make our digital environment safer. ➖️ In parallel with the prime minister's work, work on approving and submitting the @Apvienotais_ municipal election candidate lists must also continue. This week the final program of the United List also has to be approved. ➖️ Special greetings to our 🇨🇦 Canadian friends on Canada Day! Canada is a great example of how allies provide not only political but also real military support, deploying their armed forces where they are most needed – also in Latvia.

Andri, storyteller Munchausen lost credibility already a month after I took office as Minister of Transport. His desire was to continue demanding more and more state money. That was put to an end. The company's strategic goals and the shareholder's expectations letter were changed. After that, airBaltic attracted a highly qualified manager who, I assume, has also introduced you to his vision. I hope you are confident in the development direction he offers. Since the beginning of this year, the airBaltic team has been working on the company's further development plan, and the final business plan was submitted on May 31. I have not reviewed it because my last working day was May 28. However, in April and May I followed airBaltic's operational indicators every week, so I have a fairly clear idea of what this plan should look like. The main prerequisites for change at airBaltic during my term - within a year and three months - were created. I asked only one question about your and the finance minister's communication. At first it is said that the business plan is accurate and feasible, then - that there is no business plan, but at the same time the finance minister publicly mentions the narrowing of the company's operations as the main solution. This raises legitimate questions. The decisions will be difficult, and airBaltic will still have a lot of homework to do over the summer. But the state, as the largest shareholder, must act responsibly to achieve the best possible result for the company and taxpayers. Clear, consistent communication is an essential part of supporting the right and sustainable decisions.

Ati, I would rather stay quiet in your place... it was Briškens' and then your responsibility and your inability to act in time. Should I remind you who gave injections from citizens' tax money to AB without any business plan, without assessment?... AB came, asked, you gave - without blinking an eye. (At least credit to you Ati for the courage to deal with Munchausen, but what next?)

Can @AndrisKulbergs explain what the current plan for airBaltic is? On 15 June it was stated that airBaltic's business plan is concrete, precise and feasible. Today there is a claim that there is no business plan. Meanwhile, Finance Minister @MarisKucinskis notes that it is important for Latvia to maintain the national airline, but most likely its operations will have to be scaled back. The public needs clear and consistent communication. The goal cannot be expanding or shrinking the company per se. The goal must be a financially sustainable company. A decision has already been made that airBaltic must be self-sufficient and able to operate without regular state financial injections. Therefore, the business plan must provide for an efficient and profitable route network, only economically justified ACMI agreements, and only then the number of aircraft needed for this model. It is also important to sort out finances, which would require the involvement of private investors. Only then would there be a state capital injection to ensure 25% plus 1.

@KokinsIngus @DienaLv @Finmin @MarisKucinskis @airBaltic There is no real business plan in line with new market conditions. I expect it within a week from the AB board and Minister Kozlovskis of the Ministry of Transport.

The Prime Minister asked at today's press conference, responding to my questions about trading with Russia, whether I have some fetish for this topic. 😀 I admit – probably if the United List had less blabbering about this topic while wearing out the opposition benches in the Saeima, I would likely get fewer questions now. :) P.S. The import ban is progressing.

That is precisely why we should not control immigration or fight the consequences, as Western Europe does, nor 'reduce the rate of growth' (Kulberg's government declaration), but systematically and massively send them away. Immigration quotas were exhausted during the Soviet occupation. It's a pity that Ginta had to experience this. Hesitation only brings closer tragedies that are foreseeable and preventable.

✅ VARAM and LDDK: common understanding on business development in Riga and regions. The Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development Minister Edgars Tavars met with the Latvian Employers' Confederation council to discuss the ministry's work priorities for the coming months and current business environment issues. The goal of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation between the state and employers to promote entrepreneurship. During the conversation, both sides affirmed a common vision on the need to reduce bureaucracy, strengthen municipalities' motivation for business development, and create a purposeful Riga development and industrialization policy. Improvements to state ICT governance, sustainable use of natural resources, and priorities for the next EU funds planning period were also discussed. The minister emphasized that Riga must compete with Tallinn, Vilnius, Stockholm, and Helsinki, not with Latvian cities, while stressing that a strong capital city and strong regions are mutually complementary prerequisites for Latvia's growth. At the end of the meeting, VARAM and LDDK confirmed readiness to continue close cooperation to drive changes important for the business environment and strengthen Latvia's competitiveness. #APVIENOTAISSARAKSTS #LDDK #Reģioni #EdgarsTavars

🇱🇻 Latvia - Alleged Compromise of Latvia's State Forests Infrastructure. A threat actor claims to have compromised the domain infrastructure associated with https://t.co/cfT4n4f8L9 (Latvia's State Forests). The actor alleges they gained control over the organization's environment and states that multiple internal systems remain unavailable. According to the post, the compromise allegedly impacted: Active Directory infrastructure, VMware vCenter systems, Veeam backup environments. The actor claims backup systems were deleted or rendered unavailable during the intrusion. Several links described as backups or data repositories were referenced in the post, suggesting potential data exfiltration. The claims have not been independently verified and may represent ongoing extortion activity. Analyst Note: Attacks targeting backup infrastructure and virtualization management platforms are a common ransomware tactic designed to hinder recovery efforts. If the claims are accurate, the alleged loss of backup and vCenter environments could significantly complicate restoration operations and prolong service disruptions. #DDW #Intelligence #DarkWeb #Latvia
